The Dinner Practice

Noah practises taking dinner orders with a notebook while his family sits around their kitchen table.

Noah was starting work as a waiter on Monday. On Sunday, he asked his family to help him practise. He made a short menu and put a notebook in his pocket.

His sister ordered soup. His father chose fish, then changed his mind and asked for chicken. His mother wanted to know if the salad had cheese in it.

Noah wrote everything down. Then his sister asked for water without ice. He looked at his notes and forgot who wanted the chicken.

"This is harder than carrying plates," he said.

On Monday, his first customers ordered three different meals. Noah checked his notes and repeated the order. Everything was correct.

That evening, his sister asked about work. "The customers were easier than you," he told her.
